S.U.C.C.E.S.S. celebrates 45th anniversary and announces new Board Chair

September 30, 2018 – Vancouver, BC – S.U.C.C.E.S.S., one of the largest social services agencies in BC, celebrated its 45th anniversary today at a special luncheon attended by more than 300 guests. At its annual general meeting that immediately followed the lunch, the agency announced Terry Yung as its new Board Chair.
“As a long-term S.U.C.C.E.S.S. volunteer and immigrant myself, I am honoured to serve as Chair,” said Terry Yung. “I’m looking forward to working with a talented and committed Board and staff team to further our priorities of delivering affordable housing to help address this critical need, as well as in seniors care to support this rapidly growing demographic.”
At the luncheon, the Honourable Harjit Sajjan delivered greetings on behalf of the federal government. The Honourable Bruce Ralston, the Honourable Shane Simpson, and Vancouver City Councillor Raymond Louie provided greetings on behalf of the provincial and municipal governments, respectively.
Guests were treated to video presentations that showcased the significant milestones that have shaped the agency in the past 45 years, as well as memorable moments from the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. on the Hill event, which took place in Ottawa in May. A performance by the Azalea Ensemble of Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s School of Music brought the luncheon to an outstanding close.
At its 45th AGM, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. also welcomed six new members to its Board of Directors: Rebecca Clapperton Law, Lauren Liang, Dr. Joy Masuhara, Helen Song, Kathleen Wong and Terry Wong.
“On behalf of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., I would like to convey our sincere gratitude to immediate past chair Donnie Wing for his commitment and thoughtful leadership,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. “We look forward to working with the new Board of Directors led by Terry Yung as S.U.C.C.E.S.S. continues to provide innovative programming to newcomers and Canadians and advocate for the needs of vulnerable populations.”
