2019 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala Raises $531,311

March 17, 2019 – Vancouver, BC – The 41st annual Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala raised $531,311 on March 16, adding to the impressive $20 million raised by the event in the past 40 years. Funds raised will support S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’s programs and services that receive limited or no government funding. The fundraising focus this year was on programs supporting children and youth, such as the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multicultural Early Childhood Development and Youth Leadership Millennium programs.
“Year after year, I’m thrilled to see such great support from the community for S.U.C.C.E.S.S.,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “I would like to thank all of our donors, sponsors, Board members and volunteers for their contributions in making tonight possible.”
The gala welcomed over 800 community and business leaders, donors and sponsors for a night of celebration and entertainment. Attending dignitaries included Hon. Harjit Sajjan, Minister of National Defence; Senators Yonah Martin and Yuen Pau Woo; Hon. Shane Simpson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction; Michael Wiebe, Deputy Mayor of Vancouver; among others.
“The support shown to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. continues to amaze all of us,” said Brandon Hui, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “It’s remarkable to see so many people who share S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’s mandate of supporting the most vulnerable members of our community.”
Cheryl Kwok, Modi Liu and Dr. Timothy Hsia, co-chairs of the 2019 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala added: “Children and youth are our future and it’s extremely rewarding to contribute to important S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs that support their development. As we close the books on another outstanding gala, we are already looking forward to next year and making it bigger and even better.”
The evening was capped off with a performance from Vancouver-born-and-raised and now Hong Kong star, Joyce Cheng.
