Settlement Workers in Schools

Newcomer families enhance their settlement and integration in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows by accessing a wide range of school-based settlement services. The Program is delivered in partnership with School District 42 in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Services We Offer

  • 1-to-1 settlement consultations for families
  • Workshops and webinars on a wide range of school, community, and settlement topics
  • Referrals to various school-based, community, and government services and programs

Service Eligibility

Newcomer families with school age children enrolled in School District 42 in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows:

  • Permanent residents of Canada
  • Protected persons as defined in section 95 of the Immigrant & Refugee Protection Act (IRPA)
  • Individuals selected to become permanent residents by Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
  • Live-in caregivers with a work permit under section 112 of the Immigration & Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR)
  • Temporary foreign workers (work permit holders)
  • BC provincial nominees who are not yet approved for permanent residency
  • Refugee claimants
