Empowering youth by helping them develop core leadership skills, integrity, and compassion through experiential learning and mentorship.

Our program

The Youth Leadership Millennium is a FREE program dedicated to empowering youth to take on leadership roles both in life and in the community. The program serves young people aged 12-30 from all walks of life. The project is developed under the themes of:

  • Reconciliation
  • Building an inclusive Canada
  • Preserving the environment
  • Strengthening youth resilience

Since 1998, we have helped transform the lives of about 1000 graduates.

Focus areas:

  • Enhance youth leadership, communication, team building skills and promote collaboration
  • Encourage and promote personal development with a focus on self-awareness, mental health and personal well-being
  • Foster community engagement and leadership development among youth by increasing youth’s awareness and understanding of community issues
  • Equip youth with skills to build confidence and successfully communicate and implement their volunteer initiatives

Who can join

We are a diverse and inclusive program. We encourage youth from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds to apply.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Youth between the ages 12-30 years old
  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Residents, and Claimed Refugees
  • Able to commit to the full duration of the program in-person and online

Program details

Each year, we organize a series of activities, workshops, and events that are not only fun, but also encourage individual growth, increase awareness and facilitate creative and positive change in our community!

Unique experiences

We take a holistic approach to develop well-rounded leadership at YLM. Activities may include but are not limited to:

  • Leadership skills training
  • Civic and community engagement events and activities
  • Personal well-being training and team bonding activities
  • Digital filming and editing training
  • Backcountry, rural and environmental training
  • Diversity/Equity/Inclusion and Reconciliation training
  • Educational field trips
  • Community volunteering

YLM runs as a hybrid program with both online and in-person programming. Contact us directly to register for an online information session.

Program outcomes

Upon successful completion of the YLM program, youth participants will receive:

  • U.C.C.E.S.S. Youth Leadership Millennium Certificate
  • Completion of 120 Service Hours Professional Development
  • Training Certificates, Reference Letters and many more!

Online information sessions

We’d love to see you at one of our scheduled sessions! These are designed to provide prospective participants and parents with a bit more information about what we have in store for the year. This is also the place for you to ask questions and for us to answer them.

An 11-month program isn’t a small commitment – we think it’s important for us to learn more about each other and make sure that your goals can be achieved in our program.

After you complete the online registration form, we will contact you to schedule an interview via Zoom.
