Self-Employment Services

WorkBC offers specialized self-employment services, including training, workshops, and one-to-one coaching, to help you to achieve your entrepreneurship goals.

Services We Offer

  • Entrepreneurship skills training on business planning, market research, sales and marketing, financing and taxation, HR and business operations, sales forecast and cashflow, etc.
  • One-to-one mentoring support to develop business plan and launch business
  • Financial assistance while you focus on starting your business

Program Process

  • Pre-Program: Information session, orientation workshop, and business concept development
  • Planning: 10 weeks of business plan development
  • Launch: 38 weeks of business launch support and on-site visits

Service Eligibility

  • Have an Active Employment Insurance (EI) Claim (aka Active EI Claimant); or
  • Received EI Benefits in the past (Reachback EI Client or Former EI Claimant); or
  • Earned more than $2,000 in insurable earnings and paid EI employee premiums on those earnings in at least five (consecutive or non-consecutive) of the previous 10 calendar years; or
  • A person with disabilities or a person with persistent multi barriers
  • Able to dedicate 35 hours per week
