Vancouver Granville Lions Club to Raise $50,000 In Support of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Seniors Care
Richmond, BC – The Vancouver Granville Lions Club announced today that it is holding the Chinese New Year Singing for Charity event at the Radisson Hotel Vancouver on February 10, 2018, to raise $50,000 for the set-up of a Physical Activity Centre at the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Austin Harris Residence in Richmond.
The event is a Centennial Community Legacy Project, as part of Lions Club International’s centennial celebrations. It is led by event chair and the Vancouver Granville Lions Club’s founding president Annie Lau, and Vivian Chan, the club’s current president.
“We are excited to support the well-being of seniors in our community through this fundraising event,” said Annie Lau. “The new Activity Centre at the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Austin Harris Residence will enable seniors to maintain an active and independent lifestyle.”
Approximately 125 seniors participate weekly in the newly opened Jackson Lam Adult Day Care Program at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Austin Harris Residence. This creates an increased need to provide these seniors with appropriate and continuous care and exercise.
“Their generous contribution will allow us to purchase customized equipment to support seniors with special needs. As such we are deeply grateful,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.
“Thanks to this donation, seniors can have the opportunity to improve their physical functioning, which is crucial to maintaining their quality of life as they progress into their golden years,” added Sinder Kaur, Executive Director at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multi-Level Care Society.
Tickets to the Chinese New Year Singing for Charity event are available for $90 and $138 each. To purchase tickets or for more information, please call 778-893-9937.
