Vancouver – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has issued the following statement condemning hate activities and intolerance.
We, at S.U.C.C.E.S.S., are deeply saddened by the recent deaths in Charlottesville and Barcelona, and stand with partner organizations in condemning hate speech and activities resulting in such tragedies. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is committed to building diverse and inclusive communities where everyone feels safe and welcome.
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. urges all Canadians to remain united in our shared values of equality and inclusiveness. We denounce the white nationalist, anti-immigration rallies that have been scheduled to take place in Canadian cities this weekend.
Following a forum on Immigration and Racial Discrimination organized by S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in February, 2017, we have been and are organizing community roundtables to address anti-immigrant sentiments and to facilitate dialogue and solutions towards greater social cohesion for newcomers, immigrants and long-time residents.
We encourage individuals, governments and organizations to take consistent and proactive measures to address hate in our communities. Together we can build healthy and inclusive communities to eliminate racism and hate.
Established in 1973, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is one of the largest social service agencies in British Columbia. It is a charitable organization providing services in settlement, language training, employment, family and youth counselling, business and economic development, seniors care, housing and community development.
