S.U.C.C.E.S.S. names its newest Richmond service location as
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Johnny Fong Social Services Centre
Richmond, BC – S.U.C.C.E.S.S., one of BC’s largest not-for-profit social service agencies, named its newest Richmond service location as the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Johnny Fong Social Services Centre at a ceremony today. The name recognizes a significant donation from well-known philanthropist and longtime donor to S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Johnny Fong. The ceremony was attended by senior leaders of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation, as well as representatives from the three levels of government.
“We’re honoured to recognize Mr. Johnny Fong’s generous contribution with the naming of this centre,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “Through his giving, Mr. Fong has demonstrated true leadership and his deep desire to give back to the community. His gift will enable our staff at the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Johnny Fong Social Services Centre to continue to provide much-needed support and programming to newcomers and other residents in Richmond.”
The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Johnny Fong Social Services Centre is located on the ground floor of Storeys, an innovative housing development with on-site supportive services. The development is the result of a unique partnership between all three levels of government and a consortium of five non-profit organizations, including S.U.C.C.E.S.S.
“In the past 45 years, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has served as a bridge for countless newcomers to Canada,” said Johnny Fong. “It’s a cause in which I deeply believe and one that I have supported for more than 20 years. I feel great pride to give back to the community in this way, and I hope that others will join me in supporting S.U.C.C.E.S.S.”
Currently, the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Johnny Fong Social Services Centre offers programs such as English classes, citizenship preparation, Zumba and food safety courses. The auditorium on the ground floor has held many community events, including job fairs and wellness workshops. The auditorium is available for rent to community groups and businesses year-round.
“As a Patron of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation, Mr. Johnny Fong has really shown what it means to be a community leader,” added Brandon Hui, chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “We are so thankful for Mr. Fong’s continued support and hope that his generosity will inspire others to join in his philanthropy.”
