S.U.C.C.E.S.S. marks 50th Anniversary AGM by welcoming new Board Chair and members

Vancouver, B.C. – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. social services agency celebrated its 50th Anniversary Annual General Meeting on Sunday, Sept. 24 by welcoming a new Society Board Chair and members.

Doug Purdie, a Chartered Professional Accountant and Associate Partner with Ernst & Young, was elected as incoming Board Chair. He recently completed a term as Board Treasurer and has served S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in several senior roles, including two years served as Board Chair from 2013 to 2015.

“We are delighted to welcome Chair Doug Purdie to lead S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in the coming years, supported by the knowledge and diverse experience of our new and returning Board members,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.

“Together, we will continue to advance the mission of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. to empower people on their Canadian journey to achieve their goals through services and advocacy that promote belonging, wellness and independence. Their expertise will enable our agency to continue to innovate and grow to meet demand in the areas of newcomer settlement services, affordable housing and seniors care,” Choo said.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. shares its deep appreciation to outgoing Board Chair Terry Yung for his years of devoted service to our agency. We also honour our outgoing Board members, Vice Chair Phil Bates, Secretary Dr. Maria Chung, and Directors Simon Chen and Tony Wong for their significant contributions to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. during their service.
