S.U.C.C.E.S.S. honours Maggie Ip’s legacy with the naming of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Maggie Ip Harmony House

Vancouver, B.C. – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. today honoured the extraordinary legacy of its late co-founder Maggie Ip with a special ceremony celebrating the naming of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Maggie Ip Harmony House. The event brought together members of the Ip family, community leaders, supporters, staff and invited guests to recognize her lasting contributions to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and the communities it serves.

Held at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. headquarter and Harmony House in Vancouver’s Chinatown, the ceremony commemorated a visionary leader, passionate advocate, generous philanthropist and dedicated community builder whose decades of service helped shape S.U.C.C.E.S.S. into one of Canada’s largest social service agencies. The naming of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Maggie Ip Harmony House ensures her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Maggie Ip was among the original group of volunteers who founded S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in 1973. Through her leadership, compassion and unwavering commitment to supporting newcomers, she played a pivotal role in building an organization that has helped hundreds of thousands of people on their Canadian journey over the past five decades.

“Today, we celebrate far more than a name. We celebrate a legacy of leadership, compassion and service that continues to influence everything we do at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Maggie believed deeply in the power of community and the importance of helping people build a sense of belonging. Naming Harmony House in her honour ensures that future generations will understand the profound impact one person’s vision can have on countless lives,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.

“This recognition is a fitting and enduring tribute to Maggie Ip’s extraordinary vision, leadership and service. The naming of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Maggie Ip Harmony House honours not only her foundational role in building S.U.C.C.E.S.S., but also the values she championed throughout her life—compassion, inclusion and a deep commitment to helping others.” said Donnie Wing, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Society Board.

“The Board is proud that her name will remain connected to a place where community, belonging and hope continue to flourish,” said Brandon Hui, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation Board. “Over the years, her generous philanthropic contributions helped fund essential S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs and services, extending vital support to individuals and families across our communities.”

The ceremony featured reflections on Maggie Ip’s contributions to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and the broader community, as well as the official recognition of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Maggie Ip Harmony House as a lasting tribute to her vision, generosity and dedication to helping others.

About Maggie Ip

Maggie Ip (1943–2024) was a co-founder of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and a lifelong advocate for newcomers and community development. After moving to Canada and later settling in Vancouver, she recognized the need for services that would help immigrants adapt and thrive in their new home. Her leadership helped establish S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in 1973, laying the foundation for what would become one of Canada’s largest social service agencies. Throughout her life, she remained deeply committed to strengthening communities and creating opportunities for others.

中僑命名「中僑葉吳美琪樂群苑」　傳承葉吳美琪女士精神與貢獻

卑詩省溫哥華 –中僑今日舉行特別命名典禮，正式將中僑樂群苑命名為「中僑葉吳美琪樂群苑」，向已故聯合創始人葉吳美琪女士（Maggie Ip）的非凡精神與貢獻致敬。葉氏家人、社區領袖、支持者、中僑員工及獲邀嘉賓齊聚一堂，共同緬懷她對中僑及其所服務社區留下的深遠影響。

典禮於溫哥華華埠中僑總部及樂群苑舉行，紀念這位富有遠見的領袖、熱誠的倡議者、慷慨的慈善家和全心投入的社區建設者。數十年來，葉吳美琪女士致力服務社區，為中僑發展成為加拿大最大的社會服務機構之一奠定重要基礎。「中僑葉吳美琪樂群苑」的命名，將讓她留下的精神與貢獻世代承傳，繼續啟發後人。

葉吳美琪女士是1973年共同創立中僑互助會的一班創會義工之一。憑藉卓越的領導才能、關愛之心，以及對支援新移民堅定不移的承諾，她在中僑的建立和發展中發揮了重要作用。過去五十多年來，中僑已陪伴和幫助數十萬人在加拿大開展新生活。

中僑互助會及中僑基金會行政總裁周潘坤玲表示：「今天，我們所慶祝的遠不只是一個名字，更是一份由領導、關愛與服務所留下的精神傳承，至今仍深深影響著中僑工作的每一個方面。Maggie 深信社區的力量，也深信幫助人們建立歸屬感的重要性。以她的名字命名樂群苑，讓未來一代能夠了解，一個人的遠見可以為無數生命帶來何等深遠的影響。」

中僑互助會理事會主席 譚明山（Donnie Wing） 表示：「這項命名是對葉吳美琪女士非凡遠見、領導才能和服務精神一份恰如其分而恆久的致敬。『中僑葉吳美琪樂群苑』不僅彰顯她在創立和建設中僑過程中的重要角色，也紀念她一生所堅守的價值——關愛、共融，以及幫助他人的堅定信念。」

中僑基金會主席許祖澤（Brandon Hui）表示：「理事會深感欣慰，Maggie 的名字將永遠與這個讓社區、歸屬感與希望持續茁壯成長的地方連結在一起。多年來，她慷慨的慈善捐助為中僑多項重要服務與項目提供了支持，讓社區中的個人和家庭得以獲得所需的關鍵支援。」

典禮期間，嘉賓共同回顧葉吳美琪女士對中僑及廣大社區的貢獻，並正式為「中僑葉吳美琪樂群苑」命名，藉此恆久紀念她的遠見、慷慨胸懷，以及幫助他人的奉獻精神。
