S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation Welcomes New Chair Brandon Hui

Vancouver, BC – The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation held its annual general meeting yesterday, August 31, 2017. Brandon Hui was elected as the new chair, and Walter Soo and Chris Chan as vice-chairs.
“We are grateful for the strong support from the community, our Foundation board, donors and volunteers in the past year,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “Their efforts have enabled us to achieve outstanding results with our signature annual events, including our Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala, Walk with the Dragon and the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation charity golf tournament. We were also able to add new elements to our fundraising and expand the scope of our activities beyond our current communities.”
In 2016-17, the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation raised $1.304 million to support key services offered by S.U.C.C.E.S.S., including family counselling, the Chinese Help Lines, the Family Resource Centre, multicultural early childhood development services, women’s groups, and services for youth and seniors, among others.
Brandon Hui, the newly elected board chair, brings with him his broad experience in the insurance industry, both in Canada and Asia. He is the vice-president of Business Development at Park Georgia Insurance Agencies, and the managing director and CEO of Groveland Financial Services Limited in Hong Kong. He obtained his CA and CPA designations during his years working in Toronto for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Brandon has also worked for Manulife Asia in Hong Kong, Vietnam and Malaysia. He has been on the board of the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation since 2016, and remembers vividly participating in the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Walk with the Dragon with his family while growing up in Vancouver.
At the meeting, the Foundation also announced the addition of four new board members: Anthony Cheung, Alex Fan, Dr. Timothy Hsia and Cheryl Kwok.
“My heartfelt thanks go to our outgoing board chair Sing Yeo,” said Choo. “Sing’s leadership in guiding the Foundation to pursue its fundraising goals over the years is deeply appreciated. I would also like to acknowledge the remarkable contributions of our departing directors Jason Lam, Douglas Chiu and Adrian Loh, who have each completed their full six-year terms on the board.”
In the year ahead, the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation will continue to pursue its strategic goals, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, endowment funds, major gifts fundraising and planned giving.
