S.U.C.C.E.S.S. to Host Community Forum on
Immigration and Racial Discrimination
Vancouver – Standing against the recent incidents of racial discrimination towards newcomers and the alarming trend of racially-charged sentiments in the media, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. will be hosting a community forum on immigration and racial discrimination on February 22, 2017 in partnership with organizations committed to eliminating racial discrimination in British Columbia. The forum features a keynote speech by His Excellency Artur Wilczynski, Ambassador of Canada to Norway.
Media are cordially invited to attend the press conference for the forum.
Event: Press Conference – Safeguarding Our Communities, Upholding Our Shared Values: A Community Forum on Immigration and Racial Discrimination
Date: Monday, February 20, 2017
Time: 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Venue: Room 314, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Social Service Centre, 28 West Pender Street, Vancouver
In attendance at the press conference will be several forum speakers, including Chief Robert Joseph, Reconciliation Canada Ambassador.
The forum contributes to both the City of Vancouver’s pledge of 101 Days of Action Against Discrimination, and BC.’s aspiration to be an inclusive environment for all cultures that celebrates their diversity and refuses to tolerate racism and hatred.
In addition to Ambassador Wilczynski’s keynote at the forum, a panel of experts will participate in an informed conversation about racial discrimination in BC’s communities, their historic significance, how local communities may foster healing from racism, and the value of immigrants to the province. To foster integration, inclusion and social sustainability, there will be a facilitated call to action at the event.
