Fun-Filled Walk with the Dragon Aims to Raise $400,000
Vancouver, BC – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Walk with the Dragon , one of Vancouver’s most anticipated community-based fundraising events, is returning to the Lumbermen’s Arch, Stanley Park, on Sunday, July 16, 2017. Hosted by the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation, the event hopes to raise another $400,000 towards S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’, s programs and services for seniors, women, youth and families that receive partial or no government funding.
“This annual event has raised over $12 million for important social services and programs for Metro Vancouver communities since its inception in 1986,” said Sing Lim Yeo, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “Every year, families and youth participate and fundraise to support the great social cause while sponsors and companies utilize this opportunity to engage the attendance with their brands and products,” added Yeo.
In addition to the traditional 3-km and 7-km excursions along the Stanley Park seawall, there will be stage performances represented by different cultures. A special performance by Syrian refugees will be featured on the stage.
This year, the event will have a much bigger Kids Zone area with bouncy castle, face painting, airbrush tattoos, balloon twister, photo-shoot, henna artist, crafts, and caricature artist to bring more fun to the young families and their kids. RBC’s sports training zone will provide special experience for young children and encourage them to learn to play.
The Foundation is thrilled to partner with CHMB AM1320 again to organize the 2nd Annual Radiothon. Taking place on Saturday, July 15, from 8 am to mid-night, listeners will hear heartwarming stories, information about S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’s programs and services, and how donation is making profound impact to the lives of the people we serve in the community. Throughout the broadcast, listeners will have opportunities to phone in and support the cause. The public is encouraged to call 604-263-1320 to donate on July 15, 2017.
“We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, especially our returning sponsors such as Concord Pacific Group, RBC, Vancity and Air Canada. Their continued support is a testimony of their commitment to the community,” said Chris Chan and Steven Shen, Co-Chairs of 2017 Walk with the Dragon.
The event starts at 8:30 am and ends at 12:30 pm.
