Community gathers to launch new Integrated Community Services for Seniors in Richmond

Posted date: September 13, 2022

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is launching a new Integrated Community Services for Seniors Pilot Project in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health at Austin Harris Residence, 5411 Moncton Road in Richmond. The official opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 1 to 2 p.m.

The official opening ceremony will include remarks from Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie, Dr. Maria Chung (S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Board and Chair of Seniors Task Force), UBC professor of Digital Emergency Medicine Dr. Kendall Ho and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. CEO Queenie Choo.

This project will create a hub to help Chinese seniors age well despite of language and cultural barriers by connecting them to community information on health and social services in Richmond. This ensures older adults 65+ can access the right service at the right time.

Our bilingual (English and Chinese) community connectors will assist seniors who are vulnerable due to frailty, a lack of family physician, language or cultural barriers. They will also support those who cope with mental health or dementia and have little access to a caregiver or local networks.

Community connectors in this pilot project will assist eligible seniors for referral to Meals on Wheels, home care, home health, housing, settlement services, transportation, medication management, mental health supports, and more. In addition, the program will also host a monthly webinar for the public on health and social related issues at the site.

Date: Saturday. Sept. 17, 2022
Location: Austin Harris Residence, 5411 Moncton Road, Richmond, BC
Time: 1 to 2 p.m. PST
