Richmond, BC – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation hosted a press conference to announce the Special Performer Linda Chung and Guest Performer Avan Yu to perform at 2017 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala.
“Linda is always passionate about giving back to community. We are very excited to have Ms. Linda Chung back to perform for us since her first performance with us in 2004,” said Mr. Sing Lim Yeo, Chair, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “Throughout these 13 years, Linda’s career has grown to new heights while S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’s services have also expanded thanks to the support of our donors and sponsors,” added Yeo.
Gala Co-Chairs Jason Lam, Brandon Hui and Water Soo said, “The theme of this year is Journey. As an organization, we are proud to serve the immigrant population in their journey of integration, helping them adapt to the society while supporting their well-being regardless of age and ethnicity. “Vancouver is my home. I always support S.U.C.C.E.S.S. because my parents are immigrants as well. At that time, the Chinese community was small. It was difficult to find social services and help. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has been doing an amazing job in helping new immigrants. I am deeply honored to be invited again to support this great organization at the 2017 Gala.”
Born in Maple Ridge and raised in Vancouver, Linda Chung a Canadian actress and singer. She is currently active in Hong Kong and signed with Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) after winning the 2004 Miss Chinese International. She has starred in many popular TV series. She was nominated Best Actress by TVB and won My Most Favourite Female Character Role in China. In addition to her career development at television, she also involves in filming and music industries.
Hong Kong – born Avan Yu is one of Canada’s most exciting young pianists. He moved to Vancouver with his family when he was nine years old. At the age of fourteen, he made his debut with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He won the Canadian Chopin Competition at the age of seventeen and remains to be the competition’s youngest ever winner. In 2012, Avan triumphed at the Sydney International Piano Competition, winning first prize along with nine special awards. He has performed extensively throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Australia and at venues such as the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and the Sydney Opera House. Avan is awarded one of the 2016 RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrants.
The annual gala will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Westin Bayshore, Vancouver. The Foundation hopes to raise another $500,000 for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. services that receive no or limited government funding for those in need in the Metro Vancouver community. Each year the Gala attracts more than 800 distinguished guests, including three levels of government, corporate leaders and philanthropists.

Special Performer – Linda Chung Ka-yan

Linda Chung Ka-yan (born in 9 April 1984) is a Canadian actress and singer. She is currently active in Hong Kong and signed with Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) after winning the 2004 Miss Chinese International.
She has starred in several popular TV series, most notably Forensic Heroes, Heart of Greed, Moonlight Resonance, A Journey Called Life, The Gem of Life, Yes, Sir. Sorry, Sir!, Legend of the Demigods, Ghost Writer, Witness Insecurity, Brother’s Keeper, All That Is Bitter Is Sweet, and Tiger Cubs II.
In addition to her career development at television, she also involve in filming and music industries. At the film “Love Is Not All Around” she got the twenty-seventh Hong Kong Film Awards “Best New Actors” final five nominations. She is also a singer, won awards in different music platforms.

Guest Performer – Avan Yu
Avan Yu, One of Canada’s most exciting young pianists, he immigrated to Vancouver when he was 9 years old and achieved international recognition when he triumphed at the Sydney International Piano Competition, winning First Prize. Since then, he has appeared with conductors and musicians such as Rafael Fruehbeck de Burgos, Christian Arming, Juanjo Mena, Johannes Moser, and the Armida Quartet. He has performed extensively throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Australia and at venues such as the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and the Sydney Opera House.
Avan is a recipient of the 2016 RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrants.
