S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala Features Journey of Integration
Vancouver, BC – Over 750 guests attended the Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala on March 11, 2017 in support of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. essential programs and services for youth, women, families and seniors such as Simon K. Y. Lee Seniors Care Home, Chinese Help Lines, Youth Leadership Millennium Program, Korean Counselling Program and Multicultural Early Childhood Development Program. The event raised an amazing $539,109 through dinner tickets, live and silent auctions, raffles, sponsorships and donations, making it one of the most successful events hosted by S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation
“This year the gala was extremely popular and all dinner tickets were sold out one week before the event,” said Brandon Hui, Jason Lam and Walter Soo, Co-Chairs of Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala. “We were thrilled about the overwhelming support from the communities. This event has become a special occasion that we gather those who share our vision and mission, and acknowledge the great cause that S.U.C.C.E.S.S. undertakes. This has continuously inspired us to help immigrants integrate into the society.”
Among the dignitaries at the event included Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould, Minister of Justice, Hon. Christy Clark, Premier of British Columbia, Raymond Louie, Acting Mayor of Vancouver and Malcolm Brodie, Mayor of Richmond.
The evening started off with a VIP reception where guests mingled and strolled through the more than 150 silent auction items that were on display, including an eclectic selection of wine, electronics, furniture, dining certificates and other exquisite items donated by local businesses.
The two gala performers, Linda Chung and Avan Yu, gave a rousing performance at the event. Both Linda and Avan are immigrants from Asia. They grew up in Vancouver and now continue their careers and journey internationally.
Since 1997, Air Canada has been the Official Airline Sponsor for the annual galas and has flown in excess of 100 artists, including Avan Yu and Linda Chung, from different cities to Vancouver to participate every year.
“We are thankful for the continued support and contributions from our generous sponsors and donors who made the Gala a resounding success year after year,” said Sing Lim Yeo, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.
The annual Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala is one of the three major annual fundraising events hosted by S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation along with Walk with the Dragon and the Charity Golf Tournament.
First launched in 1978, the gala has raised over $10 million for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs and services that lack sufficient government funding.
