How to Become an Optician in BC

Opticians in Canada are regulated health care professionals who are an important part of the eye care team. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) Loan Project and Active Career Connect and Engagement Project (ACCEP) will be conducting an online workshop, in partnership with the College of Opticians of British Columbia, on How to become an Optician in BC and will cover the following topics:

• What do opticians do – scope of practice for opticians in BC/Canada?
• Attributes of a Canadian optician
• Process for becoming an optician
• Job market – types of employers
• Ongoing obligations once licensed
• Who to contact and how to start the process
