Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala
Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Special Performer Fred Cheng
Vancouver, BC – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation announced today that Fred Cheng, a well-known Hong Kong singer and actor originally from BC, will be its feature performer at the 2018 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala.
“Fred is passionate about giving back to community. We’re thrilled that he can help us raise funds and celebrate the gala’s 40th anniversary as our feature performer,” said Brandon Hui, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “Similar to Fred’s wide fan base, S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’s services touch the lives of newcomers and Canadians of all backgrounds and ages.”
To mark the gala’s 40th year, guests will enjoy a variety of multimedia presentations in addition to Fred’s performance. “This year’s gala will be one to remember,” said Gala Co-Chairs Walter Soo, Jeffrey Chan and Timothy Hsia. “We will walk guests through the rich history of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., highlighting how its social services have made a positive difference in the community. We are thankful to all our donors and sponsors for their contributions, including Air Canada, which has been our Official Airline Sponsor for more than two decades.”
Canadian-born Hong Kong actor and singer Fred Cheng rose to fame after winning first place in the Hong Kong singing competition, The Voice of the Stars (VOS), in 2013. He has starred in numerous television series including Shine On You, Love Bond, The Charm Beneath, and Forensic Heroes. Fred signed with TVB Music Limited’s subsidiary Voice Entertainment and released his first album “Story of a Panda” in September 2014. Fred’s fan base spans the globe and includes all ages, with fans in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, the US and other countries.
“Vancouver is my home. I always support S.U.C.C.E.S.S. because my parents were also immigrants,” said Fred Cheng. “At that time, the Chinese-Canadian community was small and it was difficult to find social services. I know that S.U.C.C.E.S.S. does an amazing job at helping new immigrants. I’m deeply honoured to be invited to support this great cause.”
The 2018 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala will take place on Saturday, March 10 at the Westin Bayshore, Vancouver. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation hopes to raise $500,000 to support S.U.C.C.E.S.S. services that receive no or limited government funding. Tickets to the gala have sold out, and more than 800 distinguished guests are expected to attend, including representatives from the three levels of government, corporate leaders and philanthropists in the community.
