Number of Positions: 2 (15 hours/week + 12.5 hours/week)

Location: Vancouver Region

Reports to: Language Lead

 

Classes Available:

  • LINC 6 Morning: 9:00am – 12:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (12 hours/week + 15 minutes of preparation per one hour of class time – total of 15 hours/week)
  • LINC 2 Afternoon: 12:30 – 3:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (10 hours/week + 15 minutes of preparation per one hour of class time – total of 12.5 hours/week)

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and delivers CLB-aligned and student-centered lesson plans according to the students’ needs and according to the S.U.C.C.E.S.S.S. curriculum
  • Teaches in an engaging and effective manner, respectful of student diversity and needs
  • Maintains accurate records, including attendance sheets and submits reports promptly to ensure students’ progress effectively
  • Assesses students using CLB indicators and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
  • Plans for appropriate filed trips and guest speakers
  • Creates a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A TESL Canada recognized TESL/TESOL certificate or diploma if the undergraduate degree is not in TESL/TESOL
  • Experience teaching adult ESL, particularly community-based settlement ESL
  • Experience teaching ESL adult students using student-centred and task-based approaches
  • Experience working in a multicultural and diverse environment
  • Completion of LearnIT2Teach Stage 2 is an asset
  • Experience teaching ESL online classes

 

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and interactive internet usage, including teaching platforms such as Moodle and video calling such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and GotoMeeting

 

Other Requirements:

  • Clear Criminal Record Check required
