About the Position:

The Community Outreach & Marketing Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing all communications and marketing efforts of WorkBC Richmond. This position will contribute to the planning of community events, media relations, internal and external communications, as well as digital marketing initiatives such as social media, website and e-newsletters, with the goal to increase public awareness of the WorkBC Richmond in the catchment area.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Community Outreach: 

  • Develops local community outreach and marketing strategies to increase public awareness of the WorkBC Centres in Richmond area 
  • Creates relationships with key community influencers by building and cultivating a network of partnerships with local community agencies, services providers, and other relevant stakeholders 
  • Maps each catchment area to identify opportunities to promote better the WorkBC Centres 
  • Prepares presentations for webinars and info sessions at libraries, schools and other organizations 
  • Works with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement community outreach initiatives in the catchment area 
  • Assists to arrange booth exposure at community events 
  • Develops photo portfolio to post on social media and include in marketing reports 


  • Provides support to Centre Managers in strategic communication and marketing plans 
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate marketing initiatives, materials and community outreach 
  • Supports all WorkBC Richmond’s print and digital communications and marketing activitiessuch as advertising campaigns, social media, e-newsletters and website 
  • Composes and edits marketing materials, such as news releases, client stories and presentations 
  • Plans and promotes special events (e.g. hiring events, open houses, etc.)  
  • Leads the production and distribution of e-newsletters to various stakeholder segments 
  • Contributes to the WorkBC website revamp and maintain oversight of content to ensure it is up-to-date and relevant 
  • Manages WorkBC Richmond’s social media channels by posting and responding to messages as appropriate 
  • Interviews clients and other stakeholders and produce write-ups for sharing with the public 
  • Liaises with internal departments and external vendors to support the design and production of collateral materials 
  • Keeps up-to-date on public issues that affect WorkBC Richmond and provide strategic advice to the WorkBC management 
  • Provides a monthly report on all promotional/marketing activities for the Centre Managers 
  • Provides other communications and marketing support as required 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned 


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or related discipline 
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing, preferably in a not-for-profit environment 
  • Experience with event planning 
  • Knowledge on managing social media, e-newsletters and corporate website 
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics is an asset

Additional Requirements:

  • Clear criminal record check 
  • Able to work at different centre locations within the catchment area  
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required
