About the Position:

To provide full range of support to the Family Resource Center in serving parents and children from the multicultural communities 

Reports to: Multicultural Early Childhood Development Coordinator 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify the Early Childhood Development (ECD) service needs of the multicultural parents attending the Family Resource Centre
  • Facilitate the Parents and Tots Drop-In and be responsible for the preparation of materials and refreshments for the programs in the centre
  • Responsible for room booking and arrangement of visits by mainstream service providers to the Drop-In program
  • Ensure the housekeeping responsibilities, such as cleaning of toys/equipment, decoration of the centre and bulletin boards
  • Oversee and maintain the resource library
  • Fill out all documentation (group reports, monthly group statistics, etc.)
  • Take attendance and keep record of participants of each session
  • Attend staff meeting and training opportunities as required
  • Attend internal and external meetings as and when required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Family Studies or related discipline;
  • Experience in group facilitation and child development an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources an asset

Job Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Second language in Farsi preferred
  • Excellent team player
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Other Requirements:

  • Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector Support) Required
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certification an asset
  • Weekend duties may be required
