About the Position:

Immigrant Women Entrepreneurship Program (IWEP) serves immigrant women and visible minority women. The Business Coach performs case management, motivates entrepreneurship and incubates the launching of new businesses and/or scaling up existing businesses. The Business Coach is also clients’ go-to person for entrepreneurial support, business information, and community resources to achieve their goals.

Reports to: Senior Manager

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Direct Client Services

  • Delivers program information sessions
  • Performs program suitability assessments
  • Performs needs assessments
  • Assists clients to set entrepreneurship goals and creates action plans
  • Motivates clients to complete action plans
  • Provides guidance on business plan development
  • Provides business start-up resources and bridges to community programs
  • Facilitates entrepreneurial skills training and workshops
  • Facilitates soft skills training
  • Conducts mentor-mentee matching
  • Documents clients’ achievements, milestones and outcomes

Indirect Client Services

  • Participates in community events
  • Participates in internal and external meetings/webinars to stay up-to-date on market development and trends

Administrative Tasks

  • Compiles program statistics for program evaluation and monthly reports
  • Other related tasks as assigned by Senior Manager

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of BC business start-up regulations and procedures
  • Experience in BC systems and resources in business community
  • Experience in supporting clients to achieve entrepreneurship goals in BC
  • Experience in understanding the challenges and barriers of immigrant women and visible minority women along business start-up
  • Experience in coaching immigrant women and visible minority women
  • Experience in case management
  • Experience in reviewing business plans
  • Experience in proposal and report writing

Job Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Additional languages are considered an asset
  • Ability to build strong business relationships
  • Ability to motivate clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent one-to-one and group presentation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent technical skills in MS Office and web-based applications
  • Excellent record management skills with clear understanding of confidentiality and data security
  • Ability in conducting digital marketing campaigns
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

  • Able to work evenings and/or weekends as required
