ACAP addresses the lack of career advancement exploration for internationally trained professionals by providing services that help underutilized immigrants transition into careers related to their expertise.  ACAP also works with businesses that are interested in increasing diversity in the workplace by creating or improving human resources practices.

ACAP offers:

  • Occupational research

One-to-one support

  • Recognize barriers and set goals
  • Develop effective strategies to increase employability
  • Clarify career possibilities that are relevant to your area(s) of expertise

Eligibility

  • Immigrant who is a Permanent Resident or a Canadian Citizen with 5 years or more living in Canada
  • Currently employed more than 20 hrs/wk in a job that underutilizes education & expertise
  • Possess English language proficiency sufficient to work in Canada (CLB 6)
  • Not currently pursuing the credential accreditation process
  • Seeking alternative careers relevant to the trained profession

2) Free HR Consultation to Local employers

Workplace Consultant will:

  • Meet with employers to understand their needs as it relates to the three domains – hire, develop, and retain
  • Identify areas of opportunity and create individualized business solutions
  • Facilitate presentations and workshops as well as provide resources on relevant topics
  • Provide a flexible service timeline based on organizational needs
